Adver Sport assess the performances of the Swindon Town players in today’s 2-1 win at home to Newport County in League Two.
LAWRENCE VIGOUROUX – 7
Hardly called into action in the first half but was busier in the second with some decent saves. Got a hand to the goal but couldn’t keep it out.
KYLE KNOYLE – 6.5
Some probing runs on the right and got an early assist to his name. Newport’s dominance in the second half meant more defending was required.
LUKE WOOLFENDEN – 7
Another solid performance and got in a fair share of tackles and headers as balls were pumped into the Town box in the second half.
SID NELSON – 7.5
The leader of the back-line with a no-nonsense display again. Always up for the physical challenge.
ELLIS IANDOLO – 6.5
Threatening going forwards but might feel he could have stifled the attack that led to the County goal sooner. Booked.
JAMES DUNNE – 7.5
Led Town’s press in the middle of the park, which allowed them to dictate the game in the first half.
MICHAEL DOUGHTY – 7
Got a goal to his name and pieced play together nicely but will be glad that a spurned chance in the second half did not cost his side.
MATT TAYLOR (C) – 6.5
Diligent in what is now becoming his regular holding midfield role. Broke up the Exiles’ play on a fair few occasions.
KAIYNE WOOLERY – 8.5
Showed his pace throughout and kept defenders on the move. Capped a very good performance with the winning goal.
ELIJAH ADEBAYO – 8
One of his liveliest games for a long time and was a real handful for the Newport defence throughout the first half. Booked.
SCOTT TWINE – 7.5
Another energetic performance and made lots of clever runs. Grows in promise with each game.
Substitutes:
JERMAINE MCGLASHAN – 6.5
(For Twine, 73) Injected pace to aid the hosts on the counter.
OLLY LANCASHIRE – 6.5
(For Woolery, 87) Helped stiffen Town up at the back in the closing stages.
Subs not used:
Luke McCormick, Jak McCourt, Steven Alzate, Martin Smith, Sol Pryce.
