HIGHWORTH Town boss Jeff Roberts felt a point was probably a fair result for his side after they conceded a 92nd minute equaliser to draw 2-2 away at Paulton Rovers in Southern League Division One South on Saturday.

Ashley Edenbrough had put Highworth in front at half-time before Town keeper Connor Johns misjudged a high ball in windy conditions to help Paulton equalise.

But Highworth showed the kind of spirit that has led to their five-game unbeaten run in the league as new signing Wilf White played a part in the visitors regaining the lead late on.

The midfielder played in Edenborough, who squared the ball back to Toumani Sidibi to slam home and give Highworth the lead.

Yet, two minutes into added time, Johns misjudged another high, hanging cross and Rovers scrambled home to rescue a point.

Roberts said that, despite conceding so late, he was content with a point and took solace from the fact that his side are continuing to gather momentum at a crucial period in the season.

Roberts said: “I thought we played some good flowing football and moved it around quite well in the first half.

“We’ve gone in at half-time 1-0 up and we knew Paulton were going to pester us a bit in the second half, which they did, and we took a few risks ourselves.

“We had a couple of opportunities where we could have gone 3-1 up, but maybe we were a little bit guilty of over-passing and I knew then that would be a turning point for us.

“It’s just a shame that we’ve conceded in the 92nd minute.

"Connor has tried to catch the ball it and it's gone over somebody and they’ve managed to scramble it over the line.

“It’s disappointing, but I thought we conducted ourselves very well.

"I thought we worked very hard, but when you look at both sides and the opportunities we’ve had, I think a point is probably a reasonable result for us.

“I knew it was going to be hard, especially as they’ve been a Southern Premier side in recent years and they’ve had a couple of decent results recently.

“I said to the lads at the start that if we can get a point, good, if we can win it, even better.

"It’s disheartening to concede in the 92nd minute, but it’s another point, another game unbeaten and the lads worked really hard."
