ATTEMPTS to make recycling easier to understand have been ignored by Wiltshire Council after a proposal to place stickers on recycling bins was rejected. Councillors said that having staff label what can be recycled in each bin will help people sort their kerb side recycling easier.

However the idea was scrapped and information will be sent out to households instead via the post for residents to label their bins themselves.

Cllr Sven Hocking said: “We were quite disappointed that our suggestion for contractors to put stickers onto the actual bins was not recommended. We felt if we left it to post quite a lot of these leaflets would end up in the bin and not actually going in the bins they were meant to."
