MORE than 900 people enjoyed a weekend full of toe-tapping music at the 7th annual Bradford Roots Festival.

The three-day festival took place at the Wiltshire Music Centre in Bradford on Avon from Friday evening through to Sunday afternoon.

It celebrated the best of local musical talent from Bradford on Avon, Frome, Trowbridge, Bath and beyond with more than 50 acts playing during the weekend.

They included a trio of musicians called the Town Musicians of Bremen, after the well-known fairytale by the Brothers Grimm.

There were also performances by local morris dancers from Holt Morris and the Bell’s Angels.

The festival also featured an artisan craft fair, a belly dancing workshop, craft sessions for children, card readings and family activities.

They were all showcased under one roof, alongside local products, real ales, craft gin and great food.

The Hartley Farm Shop at Winsley organised a pop-up marquee selling a range of hot food and snacks, while the Holt-based Box Steam Brewery sold their range of real ales.

The festival was organised and programmed by Lisa and Chris Samuel, supported by the WMC team, and featured performances on four stages, open mic sessions and workshops.

Chris Samuels said: “This year’s festival has been hugely successful; we’ve had more than 900 visitors over the three days, not counting the artists.

“We’re immensely proud of everyone who’s ever been involved, in whatever way - it shows that community spirit and music are alive and kicking in Bradford on Avon.”

All proceeds from the festival will be split between the Dorothy House Hospice, the Wiltshire Music Centre’s award-winning Zone Club for young adults with learning disabilities and the Wiltshire Music Centre to support its activities for people of all ages and abilities throughout the county.
