A CROWD of shoppers turned out early on Valentine's Day for the opening of a new Lidl store in Chippenham.
Customers are joined manager Chris Cullen and pupils from Queens Crescent School at the ribbon-cutting ceremony at 8am. The first arrivals enjoyed touring the new store and checking out a host of special offers.
The new supermarket on Hungerdown Lane forms part of the company’s ongoing expansion and regeneration plans in the UK and has created 38 new jobs.
The store has a 1,325 square metre sales area, an in-store bakery, longer-style tills with dual packing, a customer toilet with baby changing facilities and lots of parking for both cars and bicycles.
Lidl UK’s regional head of property Glen Stidever, said: “We would like to thank all those who have played a part in bringing this new Lidl store to Chippenham. We have been overwhelmed by the support from local residents since the submission of our planning application. It is great for us to be able to create more jobs and investment opportunities in the area."
