A 73-year-old woman from Westbury has been released under investigation pending further police enquiries after the death of a woman in west Cornwall.
Police were called at around 4.25pm on Friday February 15 by a member of the public who had spotted a body at the bottom of the cliffs at Hell’s Mouth, Gwithian, near Camborne.
Emergency services attended, including support from the coastguard, who located the body of a deceased woman, believed to be that of a 74-year-old woman from Wiltshire.
Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Her next of kin have been informed, her death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is to be prepared for the coroner.
“In connection to this matter, a 73-year-old woman from Westbury has been questioned on suspicion of aiding or abetting a suicide, under The Suicide Act 1961.
“She has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.”
