A CLINICAL performance from Swindon Supermarine saw them roar to a dominant 4-0 win at home to Beaconsfield Town in the Southern League Premier Division South on Saturday.

Marine opened their account for the day via Ryan Campbell’s first of a brace after 14 minutes, with the same player doubling the hosts' tally four minutes later through an excellent half-volley.

Lee Spalding’s side continued their total domination into the second half as Conor McDonagh squeezed the ball home from a tight angle to push the lead to three.

Stuart Fleetwood tapped home Marine’s fourth with seven minutes to play as the Webbswood Stadium side recorded their first win in four games.

Spalding tipped his hat to his players and said every one of them did the job he asked of them.

“The boys were tremendous,” said Spalding.

“I thought everyone played well, it was a really good team performance.

“Conditions were tough, don’t get me wrong, but we adapted really well.

“We spoke about keeping the ball on the floor before the game, playing quickly, and we did that really well. That was one of the reasons that we had so much success.

“I think the big difference, this week, was that we passed the ball with real tempo. We played quicker and in the attacking half of the pitch, we were excellent.

“There was some good finishing and we created lots of chances, so there were lots of positives.

“Defensively, we were very good. It was just an all-around good team performance, so I’m really pleased.”

Spalding rejected claims that his side had not been at the races in recent weeks, instead saying performances during their winless run had been of the required standard and it was simply the scoreline that did not go their way.

The Marine chief felt his side responded in the perfect way and is looking forward to where he can take them next season.

Spalding said: “Last week at Basingstoke wasn’t a good performance, but sometimes you’ve got to take your hat off to the opposition.

“The opposition were good last week and the three performances before that were good from us.

“I haven’t seen at any point that we’ve dropped off. They were all positive performances and positive results.

“Every team has an off day, but it’s about how you react and our reaction was outstanding."
