BATH-based Zoot Athlos starred at the opening event of the 2019 triathlon season, hosted in Trowbridge.

Eight athletes, including Team GB age-group triathletes, took part at the Big T Enduro event – with Joey Rossi leading the way.

Rossi took the competition’s overall win, finishing the 600m swim, 48km bike ride and 10km run in just over two hours to scoop the gold medal.

Team-mate Simon Ridley crossed the line moments later to also bag a podium spot.

Elsewhere, Gary Squires – who competed for GB in the 45-49 age group in the Middle Distance Triathlon European Championships last year – also bagged a podium spot, finishing third in the male vets category.

Zoot’s ladies also put on an impressive display – Tanya Lewis and Georgina Crawshaw took first and second places.

Coach Paul Ransome said: “I’m super proud of everybody on the team.

“Everyone supported each other, smiled and had fun.”
