MEMBERS of the Whitley Golf Club staged a Captain’s Charity Day on Saturday, May 11 to raise more than £1,500 for Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Club Captain Adam Law said: “It was a fantastic day and very well attended. We had more than 50 people taking part in the Texas Scramble.

“Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day, the weather was absolutely beautiful and we had a wonderful time.”

Around 13 teams of four took part in the early morning start to the day with a reverse course 9-hole Texas Scramble.

Activities from 12 noon onwards for the golfers included putting, chipping and driving competitions, and a pitching wedge challenge.

More than 2,000 people attended the event, which takes place every year to raise funds for charity.

Visitors and golf club members were able to enjoy a novelty dog show, bouncy castle, welly wanging, face painting and other activities.

There was also a cake sale, bottle stall, guess the content stall, golfing equipment for sale, hog roast stand, children’s tombola, standard tombola for adults, and an ice cream van.
