The Old Lane pub in Chippenham has reopened its doors after a six-figure refurbishment by brewery chain Marston’s. Forming part of a company purchase of a number of pubs across the UK, Marston’s has invested in several of them by providing a modern update to the tired pubs.

For the Old Lane, on Lodge Road, which welcomed its first customers last Monday, this has meant brand new décor and refresh of features within the pub and also a brand new manager. A trusted Marston’s General Manager, Robert Morton has been with the company and helped run different Marston’s pubs for the past 11 years. His energy and passion for the updated pub will help drive forward the Old Lane’s future.

Robert Morton said: “I’ve been in the pub trade for a long time now and have worked in different locals across the country. Taking on the Old Lane is a new chapter and one I’m excited to get involved with. I have some great ideas for the local, so can’t wait to get stuck in.”

The takeover by Marston’s has enabled the Old Lane to be revamped using a contemporary style with traditional features.

Customers can enjoy the traditional comforts of a local pub with lounge and snug areas, as well as welcoming the spring in a restyled beer garden. Catering for 150 locals, the Old Lane will offer a new and updated menu of pub classics and grills seven days a week.

Jo Rogers at Marston’s Inns and Taverns said: “We have taken care to restore the pub, maintaining local touches but updating its style and we hope everyone enjoys the result as much as we do.”
