ROYAL Wootton Bassett Town Juniors achieved double trophy success at the weekend as their U18s and U15s teams both triumphed at the North Wilts Junior League's finals day.

Bassett’s U18s Blue team saw off Stratton Juniors Pumas 3-0 at Swindon Town’s Energy Check County Ground to lift their age group's trophy thanks to a brace from Charlie McCuish and one from George Staten.

Bassett’s U15s Blue team were involved in a thrilling game earlier on in the day – they needed extra time to edge past their Swindon Supermarine counterparts 4-2.

Howard Evans, Harry Farrow, Otis Lewis and Kevin Prouse all bagged a memorable cup final goal to help claim the silverware.

Elsewhere, there was disappointment for Lydiard Youth U14s as they were beaten 2-0 by a strong Newbury Colts team.

Fairford & Lechlade U13s were on the right side of a 2-0 scoreline, though, as William Merrett struck both to help the Celts complete their first ever league and cup double with victory over Bishops Cannings.

The young side had lost in the same fixture last season, but did not allow history to affect them as they produced a controlled performance to reign victorious.

And in the U11s showpiece game, FC Abbeymeads Tigers produced a dominant performance to see off Bradford Town 4-1.

Jayden Zumaro scored twice and Heiko Skeete added his name to the scoresheet, while an unfortunate own goal completed Abbeymeads’ tally for the afternoon.

Finlay Dean, Abbeymeads’ goalkeeper, was awarded man of the match after he made a brilliant penalty save early on in the game.
