THE annual Kington Langley Scarecrow Festival that runs from June 15-16 is planning to raise more than £2,500 for the Doorway charity for the homeless and marginalised after choosing the organisation as the recipient of its Elizabeth Coles Award.
Created to honour the founder of the festival, this award gives 25 per cent of the funds raised to the chosen charity.
Steve Howe chairman of the scarecrow committee said: “Doorway is a local charity that does great work to support the homeless in Chippenham, and those at risk of losing their home.
"It’s our pleasure to support this organisation, which works tirelessly to support those in need in our local community.”
The festival is its 19th year and will feature more than 60 different scarecrows, this year themed around ‘brands’, which are scattered around a village trail.
Over the weekend at the primary school there will be live music craft stalls and circus skills workshops, as well as food, beers, a Pimms bar and cream teas. More details on the village Facebook page
