HEFTY fines were given to a care provider in Chippenham by Swindon Magistrate's Court.

Ms Heike Sampson appeared in court on February 26, and pleaded guilty as the owner of Sampson Care for not being registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) as required by law.

She was sentenced on May 9, and fined £1,600 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £160 and £4500 costs, making a total of £6,260.

Ms Sampson ran a homecare service from two different units; Hideaway Lodge in Fishersbrook, Calne, Wiltshire and Westerham Walk, Calne, Wiltshire, between August 2017 and March 2018.

Joyce Frederick of the CQC said they carried out a vital role in registering and regulating services so that people can be protected and have good quality care. They were pleased with the conclusion of the case.
