A CONTINGENT of the town’s young footballers have returned home after a successful stint at the Gothia Cup – the annual summer youth football festival in Sweden.
Swindon Town FC Community Foundation sent two teams to compete in the event, with a total of 18 players in the U12s age class representing the group.
Both teams recorded strong results at the competition in Gothenburg to make it through to the last 16 of their respective categories, where they then saw their good runs come to an end.
Town Red were beaten 8-3 by Swedish side Brannapokjkarna in the A Cup, while Town Black fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of English rivals Prep School Lions in the B Cup.
