A SCHOOL has been celebrated for the excellence of its science teaching.

Minety CoE Primary was singled out when teacher Maria Madeley won the ENTHUSE Award for Excellence in STEM teaching for Primary.

Her achievement was recognised at a ceremony at the Royal Society in London.

The judges said: “Maria has taken part in an ENTHUSE placement with Highways England, which has gone on to transform how STEM education is delivered, not just in Minety School, but within the wider partnership as well.

"A long-term relationship has been developed with Highways England and the level of impact is superb, impressing the judging team immensely.”

STEM Learning’s chief executive Yvonne Baker, added: “The awards celebrate truly remarkable teachers who have worked tirelessly to inspire young people and build enthusiasm for STEM subjects.

"Many of this year’s winners have used a placement or partnership with local employers to enrich their teaching, bringing real world knowledge into the classroom, including cutting edge research and innovation that helps to prepare young people for the jobs of tomorrow.

"By investing in their own skills through professional development, these teachers ensure that the UK can offer the very best STEM education. Congratulations to each one of them on a very well-deserved award.”
