Barley burned in crop fire
A FIELD of barley at Biddestone was partially destroyed by fire on Thursday.
A Land Rover from Westbury and from Royal Wootton Bassett were initially called out to tackle the fire off Challows Lane at 4.56pm.
They found the field to be well alight, so requested help from Chippenham, Malmesbury, Calne and Trowbridge Fire Stations and a Command Support Unit from Devizes.
The fire was extinguished using six hose reels, two main jets and beaters. The fire was under control by 6.21pm.
