SWINDON Croquet Club’s Golf Croquet team recorded their second successive league title following a hard-fought draw away at Weston-super-Mare.
With the hosts leading 10-8 going into the final two games, the contest was on a knife edge.
However, Swindon’s Les Jerram and Colin Bailey held their nerve under pressure to both record vital victories to level the tie 10-10.
The away draw was sufficient for Swindon to remain top of the table and to secure the North Eastern championship in the South West region.
Captain Clive Smith said: “This is a remarkable achievement and all the players are to be congratulated on their play throughout the season.”
As champions, the Swindon team are now entered into a knockout competition against other league winners across the South West region.
The Champion of Champions competition culminates with the final to be played at Budleigh Salterton at the end of September.
