Pupils across West Wiltshire have celebrated their A Level results

Head teachers have congratulated their pupils on what was an all round successful day for schools in Wiltshire.

At St Augustine’s in Trowbridge, 66 per cent of pupils achieved A* to B grades, with 88 per cent achieving A*-C grades.

David Forster, head teacher, said: “We are overjoyed to celebrate with our Year 13 students their excellent examination results, which are well deserved.

“It has been a jubilant occasion witnessing the happiness, triumph and relief after such hard work and a long summer of anticipation.

“These results have enabled almost all our students to access their first or second choice university, conservatoire or chosen career path.

“Students have worked very hard with the support of their teachers, and they and their families should be very proud of their successes.

“It is fantastic that eight students achieved three or more A* or A grades.”

Steve Phillips, of Melksham Oak Community School, said: "We are very happy with the results which reflect the huge amount of hard work by our students and staff with the great support of their parents/carers.

"Those students who also did vocational courses did very well too with a 100 per cent pass rate and the average grade being a Distinction."

Ninty-two per cent of Melksham Oak pupils gained at least three A levels at A*-E, while 98 per cent gained at least two, and 100 per cent at least one.

Sixth formers at The Corsham School also celebrated fantastic results, with many achieving A* to B grades and a good number obtaining three As or above.

Head teacher, Rod Bell, said: “I’m thrilled for our students that their hard work and dedication over the past two years has paid off.

“Their success is testament to the way that the students have worked so hard and supported each other so well as a year group through the challenges of the new linear courses.

“Huge congratulations to all concerned.”
