DAVE Booth took the top prize when the Golf Croquet Chairman’s Plate competition was contested at Swindon Croquet Club.

Eight players qualified for the right to compete for the trophy, having earned their place by either winning or finishing as runner-up in the group stages.

In the finals, organised by Tony Tomlin, the eight players were split into two groups of four where they played against each other in a round-robin format.

Following some keenly-contested games, Booth and Alan Chippendale emerged as the two group winners to contest the grand final.

Booth got off to a flying start in the showpiece match and, despite his best efforts, Chippendale was unable to pull back into contention as Booth triumphed 7-1.
