A SPURNED lover who told his ex-girlfriend someone would be waiting outside to rape her has been jailed.

Kyron Denmark breached a restraining order banning him from contacting his ex five times in little more than three weeks.

The 20-year-old had been in a relationship with the college student for a couple of years but they had split up by the time the restraining order was imposed in June. That order followed threats Denmark made to burn down the woman’s family home.

Hannah Squire, prosecuting, said the first breach of the order came on August 27 when the woman received a number of Facebook messages from an account registered to Denmark’s mother.

Denmark, angry that his former girlfriend had started a new relationship, called the woman a baby and wrote “you’ve made the wrong choice”.

Two weeks later, the woman was walking along Bythesea Road on the afternoon of September 14 when she spotted Denmark on his bike. There was no suggestion he had been waiting for her, but the woman went into a shop to avoid him.

Ms Squire said: “When she came out of the shop he was stood waiting for her.” He told her: “Alright babe, I want to get back together with you. Get the restraining order taken away from me.”

The woman felt intimidated by his behaviour and described him as worse for wear. Later that evening the woman’s friend received a message from Denmark directing abuse at his ex.

On September 21, he sent a series of vile social media messages to his former partner. He told her: “Someone will be outside the boutique to rape you.”

Two days later, he was outside Wiltshire College when he spotted his ex swearing at him through the glass. He began shouting abuse at the woman.

Denmark, of Hill Street, Hilperton, pleaded guilty to five breaches of a restraining order and breaching the terms of an earlier suspended sentence order.

In his defence it was pleaded he had admitted the offences at the earliest opportunity, was still young and accepted the relationship was over.

Judge Peter Crabtree described Denmark’s record of 21 convictions for 32 offences as poor and described his behaviour towards his ex-girlfriend as controlling.

“The threats and comments on September 21 in particular would have been distressing and caused fear. They are serious,” he said.

Denmark was sentenced to eight months imprisonment.
