Steven Benda – 6.5
A sloppy first touch led to City’s first penalty, but he recovered well to deliver a confidence-rich performance. Wasn’t afraid to venture from his line – a trait that blocked Rooney out more than once. Distribution was hit and miss.
Rob Hunt – 7
Very aware of the threats around him defensively, and moving forward was a threat to City on the right. Another solid game.
Mathieu Baudry – 7.5
Dealt with City’s tall attacking options well, another calming performance in the heart of defence – proving his worth as captain.
Zeki Fryers – 7.5
Set a stiff task to deal with City’s tall forwards, and will therefore be deservedly pleased to have kept a clean sheet from open play and set pieces. Has settled into central role well.
Ellis Iandolo – 7
Worked hard throughout the game and pushed forward often when space was created. Stepped up the challenge following Donohue’s departure.
Anthony Grant – 8
Few moments were he lacked discipline, but was again all-action and committed to Town’s cause before being substituted late in the game.
Jordan Lyden – 7.5
A brilliant tackle in midfield to win back possession prior to Town’s opening goal. Got into great pockets of space and looked the part.
Michael Doughty – 8.5
Great vision in midfield, and his runs were well timed also. Crosses were accurate, looked to make a return to form that Town fans associate him with.
Kaiyne Woolery – 8
Pace was a real strong point this afternoon. Ran excellently to trouble City’s defenders, but had an end product too – unlike at Cheltenham last weekend. Marked improvement.
Jerry Yates – 8.5
Work rate was another major plus, and he adapted well to Wellens’ slight tactical tweak that saw him play as a three up front. Full deserved his goal.
Eoin Doyle – 9
Excluding the two goals, brilliant movement in behind the defenders to generate himself acres of space. Could’ve easily bagged another hat-trick too.
