RESTAURANTS in Chippenham and Pewsey have had their alcohol licenses suspended after being found with illegal workers.
The decision follows a visit to sister restaurants The Tale of Spice in North Street, Pewsey, and Tale of Spice in Malmesbury Road in Chippenham last year by Immigration Enforcement.
Seven people in each restaurant were found to be working illegally.
Cllr Laura Mayes, cabinet member for public protection, said: “The suspension of these licences of the two restaurants will likely result in a loss of trade for them and we hope it sends a clear message that such matters aren’t acceptable.”
The licensing committee decided suspend the licences for three months.
