JERRY Yates has returned on loan to Swindon Town for the remainder of the 2019-20 season.

The Rotherham United forward scored 13 goals in 29 appearances for Town before being called back a fortnight ago as cover for the injured Kyle Vassell.

The 23-year-old is still the division's second top-scorer behind former loanee Eoin Doyle on 12 goals.

Yates becomes the sixth January acquisition for manager Richie Wellens and will be eligible to line up against Exeter City at the County Ground on Saturday.

Speaking to the Swindon Town Football Club website, Yates expressed his delight to be back in Wiltshire.

He said: "I’m buzzing to be back. I want to help this club. I loved the first half of the season and, to be honest, just can’t wait for Saturday."

Also speaking to the club's website, chairman Lee Power said: "I feel like this has been the final, missing piece of the jigsaw for us in the last week.

"We’re delighted at how clear Jerry made it that he wanted to be here, and how much he wanted to contribute to the second half of the season and the aim of promotion."
