A CHOIR which is self-confessed to be vocally challenged is marking its first birthday.

Royal Wootton Bassett's Tuneless Choir celebrated the one year anniversary with the mayor Steve Watts.

Members of the choir welcome anyone with open arms even if they don't have the confidence or ability to sing in tune.

Lis Hazell started the group in Wootton Bassett in January 2019 and runs the Tuneless Choir in Chippenham.

She said: "The Royal Wootton Bassett Tuneless Choir is for anyone who wants to enjoy the physical, emotional and social benefits that group singing brings, without the pressure of trying to improve.

"Our members tell us that they feel energised and uplifted when they leave, and are brighter and happier the following day."

The choir has taken part in live events including the town's annual carnival.

It recorded a Christmas single which was featured by the World Winging Day Organisation in its annual global montage video.

It has raised more than £2, 700 for charities including Wiltshire Mind.
