STORM Jorge caused havoc among the non-league football scene at the weekend as none of the region’s step-three teams or below managed to play a match.

Swindon Supermarine’s crunch game at home to Tiverton Town in the Southern League Premier Division was called off due to standing water on the Webbswood Stadium pitch.

Highworth Town met the same fate at the Save on Tyres Stadium, with their game against Evesham United falling foul of the recent wet weather.

The Worthians will hope the pitch has recovered suitably in time for their rearranged Southern League Division One South meeting with Cinderford Town – scheduled for Wednesday March 4.

And all three of the Hellenic League Premier Division sides saw their games postponed.

Royal Wootton Bassett Town saw their game against Binfield called off on Saturday morning while both Shrivenham and Fairford Town were notified of their respective postponements on Friday.

Shrivenham were due to travel to Brackley Town Saints while Jody Bevan’s Fairford were gearing up to host Virginia Water at Cinder Lane.

None of the above fixtures had been rearranged by the time the Adver went to print.
