WILTSHIRE Council says it is keeping cash flowing claiming to have paid £100m in supplier invoices during the past month.
In April, the council settled around 21,665 invoices to it’s supplier network.
The council also moved more than 350 suppliers to immediate payment terms, meaning payments will be made to them at the same time as their product or service is delivered.
The council says it has administered and issued more than £74m in Government grants to support over 6,200 local businesses.
Councillor Philip Whitehead, Leader of Wiltshire Council, said: “As one of the biggest organisations in the county we have a responsibility to do everything we can to support businesses at this difficult time.
“We have worked flat out to pay suppliers as promptly as possible and we would encourage all local businesses to do the same if they can, as it will have a positive impact on the local economy and help get things back on track as quickly as possible.”
