TAKEAWAY cream teas took off for VE Day in Berwick Bassett and Winterbourne Monkton.
" We thought we would get a couple of dozen orders but, after an email was circulated to the village and a post put on Facebook, orders started coming in," said one of the organisers, Tim Pearce. Baker Sheila Mckeown made 7 traybake cakes and 70 scones and a team of helpers made over 200 sandwiches from The New Inn.
"We sold 69 portions and made a profit of £344 to be shared between Combat Stress charity and our local church. A huge thank you to those who helped and not least to all those who ate the sandwiches and cakes.
