THE following planning applications have been decided upon by Wiltshire Council recently.

Melksham: Plans to demolish single-storey garage to allow for the development of a new two-bedroom dwelling at 124 Savernake Avenue have been refused.

The plans, submitted by Mr Cleary of 38 Islington Road, Bristol, were refused due to the ‘ cramped form of development’ which the decision says is at ‘odds’ with the existing pattern of development.

Additionally, the proposed development was deemed to have ‘inadequate’ parking, which fails to meet the standards set out in Wiltshire Parking Strategy.

Corsham: An ash tree at 14 Pickwick Road is due to be cut down as plans submitted by Mr Twiggs were met with no objections.

Seend: Tennis fan in Seend can rejoice as Seend Park is set to get new hard-surface tennis courts after plans were approved.

Bradford on Avon: Mr Westwater of Little Ashley Farm in Ashley Green has had plans approved for the installation of a wood-burning stove in the cottage (not main house) with an externally insulated flue.

Larkhill: An application put forward by Secretary of State for Defence to develop a new improved foot and cycle route along the Packway. The plans, which also include the creation of a new crossing at Netheravon Road, were approved.

Brinkworth: A timber carport and front timber boundary fence and gate will be built at Foxglove House in Barnes Green following a successful application by Mr and Mrs Tindall.

Colerne: Planning permission has been granted to Mr Gooding of Oak Farm, Rode Hill for an agricultural building for straw storage.

Kington Langley: Mr Harvey of Abbey Row in Malmesbury has been granted planning permission to demolish and rebuild an existing modern single-storey addition to Greathouse in Swindon Road.

Langley Burrell: Two leylandii trees will be cut down at Orchard House, The Common after an application by Mr Davidson received no objections.

Trowbridge: The Polebarn House Hotel (pictured) is set to become flats. Planning permission has been granted to Mrs Talarico of Polebarn House Hotel in Polebarn Road for the change of use of the hotel following resubmission of plans put forward in October 2019 were withdrawn.

Lacock: Two replacement storage buildings and a service shed are set to be built on Griffin Farm in Bowden Hill following an approved planning application.

Chippenham: Planning permission has been granted to Mr and Mrs Johnston of 76 Marshfield Road to demolish an existing single-storey structure at the rear of the property and construct a single-storey side return extension, as well as extend existing roof with small dormer and convert the loft space.

Marlborough: Mr Lilley of Selena in Elcot Lane has been granted planning approval to install an apex roof and a timber garden room for use as storage for his music collection.

Marlborough: Mr Singleton of 31 Cadley has been given planning permission for a single-storey extension.

Marlborough: A single-storey rear extension and a two-storey side extension is due to be built at 40 Marlborough Road following a successful application by Mr Malem.

Holt: Mr and Mrs Cottle of 157 The Common have had their application to build a single-storey side extension to their home approved.

Westbury: West End Baptist Church is due to get a single-storey extension and alterations to its front entrance after planning permission submitted by Mr Shears was given the green light.

Calne: Two houses are due to be built on land south of 58 Ridgemead after plans for the two, two-bedroom detached dwellings submitted by Mr Harflett of 20 The Pippin, were approved.

Chapmanslade: Mr Hodder of Pitmaston House, Worcester has been given planning approval with conditions to renovate, convert and extend existing farm buildings to form seven residential units at Thoulstone Farm. The decision stated that no construction light should be used, and no construction should take place outside of daylight hours.

This is due to the bat species recorded on-site. Similarly, no vegetation is to be removed without prior agreement 'to ensure adequate protection of known commuting foraging corridors for bat species'.
