SWINDON Supermarine got back to winning ways on Tuesday night after overcoming Met Police 2-1 at the Webbswood Stadium.

The win - courtesy of a pair of goals from Zack Kotwica - moved Lee Spalding’s men up to seventh place in the PitchingIn Southern League Premier Division South.

After a quiet start to the game, it burst into life in the 27th minute when a Ryan Campbell cross was cleared only as far as Zack Kotwica who stroked the ball into the corner to give Marine the lead.

It was the perfect start to the second half too as centre back Jake Lee went on a lung-busting 50 yard run out of defence before playing in Kotwica for his second.

The Marine striker drilled into the corner for his fifth of the season.

But Marine’s visitors were not broken by the second goal and responded just three minutes later as Ollie Knight side-footed home a simple finish after the offside trap was broken.

Marine almost increased their lead after skipper Matt Liddiard saw a header hit the bar, but Spalding’s men were indebted in the end to a fine save from goalkeeper Martin Horsell right at the death from an excellent free kick to maintain all three points.

On Saturday, Supermarine travel to Chesham United looking to build on their victory.
