CORSHAM Town maintained their excellent winning start to the new Western League season with a resounding 4-0 victory at home to Oldland Abbotonians on Tuesday night.

Goals from Chris Allen, Will Stead and James Vincent sent Kieran Baggs’ side on their way to a sixth successive league victory.

The Quarrymen sit third in the Division One table following their red-hot start to the campaign.

Corsham dominated from the outset in midweek and were ahead when Allen curled a beautiful free-kick into the top corner in the 25th minute.

The hosts were two goals up before Abbotonians had two players sent off in separate incidents.

In the second half, Corsham’s Vincent was first the provider as he set up Stead to slot home the hosts’ third before getting on the scoresheet himself after being put through one-on-one late in the game.

The victory was Corsham’s second in four days following their 5-1 victory away at Longwell Green Sports on Saturday.

At the weekend, Gary Higdon gave Corsham the lead early on following a cross from Chevolleau.

The lead was doubled straight after the break when Higdon netted his second before Stead netted Corsham’s third.

Longwell were awarded a penalty and reduced the arrears, but the visitors’ fourth came soon after when Matt Jones netted with a header from a corner, and Vincent finished the scoring late on.

Elsewhere, Warminster Town beat Wells City 3-1 on Monday night thanks to goals from Martin Johnson, Joel Sisson and Francois Allen.

Meanwhile, in the Premier division, Bradford Town provided a shock result on Saturday thanks to a 1-0 win over second-place Street.

Ross Lye’s penalty proved to be the difference at the weekend before the Bobcats followed that result up with a 4-2 victory over Chipping Sodbury Town on Tuesday night. Brown, Billing, Lye and Liam Watson all scored.
