ADVER Sport assess the performances of the Swindon Town players following their 1-0 win over Forest Green Rovers in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday night.

Joe Fryer: 8

Fryer has firmly put himself into contention for a starting spot on Saturday after making a string of excellent saves to help Town record their first clean sheet of the season. You could hear him shouting all night too. Communication was brilliant.

Rob Hunt: 7

As good a game as he’s had all season. Although his attacking input was somewhat hindered by the formation, Hunt limited Forest Green’s wingers to very little and coped well with a change of position mid-game.

Mathieu Baudry: 7

The Frenchman started off a little nervously but grew into the game and made some important contributions. Would have won a penalty too at the very end had Broadbent not scored anyway.

Taylor Curran: 7 Tuesday was certainly Curran’s best game in a Swindon shirt. He was unlucky to be booked, or perhaps he was clever to make it look like an accident – whatever your view, he did not look out of place in the back line. Booked.

Akin Odimayo: 7

Odimayo was impressive once again, especially when you take into account his trio of positional swaps during the game. He was a little erratic with his decision making at times, but overall, a very good game.

Ellis Iandolo: 6

Iandolo started brightly before a disastrous knee injury cut his game short. Hopefully, the versatile defender will not be out for too long. Subbed.

Matt Smith: 7

While Haines did the defending, Smith was left to link up the play in the final third, and a very good job he did too. His tackling wasn’t perfect, but he helped Town tick, especially in the second half.

Luke Haines: 6

A solid if unspectacular game from the youngster as he did what he needed to. Haines did not look out of place in the Town team, but he did slow down quite considerably in the second half as the pace of the game caught up with him.

Jonny Smith: 7

Once again, nearly everything positive that Town did in the final third came through Smith. His final ball wasn’t quite right on occasion, but the winger caused Forest Green no end of problems with his pace.

Jordan Stevens: 6

Too many casual passes or flicks from the Leeds United winger early on before he simplified his game and showed how good he is with the ball at his feet. Stevens still missed too many glorious chances throughout, perhaps down to rust though.

Brett Pitman: 7

Pitman was a nuisance for the Rovers back line, he worked hard, and he did put himself into position to score a few times. On another night, he would have bagged a couple, but for some top goalkeeping from Lewis Thomas.

SUBSTITUTES:

Tom Broadbent: 8

Despite playing 70 minutes for the first time in eight months, Broadbent looked like he’d never been away. The defender barely missed anything that came his way and topped his comeback with a late, late goal to secure the win.
