Former assistant manager Noel Hunt could be reuniting with ex-manager Richie Wellens at League Two Salford.

Town announced yesterday afternoon Hunt had left his position at the club by 'mutual consent'.

Now, Sun journalist Alan Nixon is reporting he will join Wellens in League Two with Town coach Tommy Wright set to stay at Swindon.

The 37-year-old arrived at the club in November 2018 as the club recovered from a poor start to finish 13th in League Two.

Hunt was then a part of the backroom staff that went on to help the Robins lift the League Two title in his first full season as Wellens' number two.

In a tumultuous period for Town during the end of October and beginning of November, he took charge of first-team matters for four games.

After news of his departure broke, Hunt took to Twitter to thank the fans for his time at the club.

He said: "Thank you to every single person associated inside and outside Swindon Town FC.

"You gave me chance and for that I will be for ever grateful.

"It has been my pleasure to work with a lot of incredible people over the last 2 years, Good luck hope to see you all soon."
