The new Calne Community Campus is now open after a delayed launch because of the second lockdown.
Following the completion of the £3m refurbishment project, the newly transformed Calne Community Campus has opened its doors to the public.
Wiltshire Council says the improvements will ensure the leisure centre can serve residents for years to come.
The reopening completes the Calne campus project which also saw work done to the Community Hub and Beversbrook sports facility.
Some of the improvements include a gym with state-of-the-art equipment, Covid-safe changing rooms, a new pool changing area with 23 cubicles and individual showers, redecoration of the sports hall, swimming pool and first-floor, as well as new entrances with automatic doors.
Town mayor, Robert Merrick said the reopening is a massive positive and a great investment for Calne.
“Especially with Covid exercise is important and coming into the new year, where again, exercise is most important,” he said.
“It’s a great asset to the town and we wouldn’t have wanted to lose it.”
Cabinet member for leisure, Ian Blair-Pilling said: “We’re so excited to share this wonderful facility with the community.
“We thank everyone for their patience during the delay caused by lockdown. We now have a campus to be proud of.”
As Wiltshire falls into Tier 2 restrictions leisure centres and facilities can reopen.
