SWINDON Town boss John Sheridan says he has no idea whether Newport County made an official bid to lure midfielder Scott Twine back to Rodney Parade on a permanent deal last week.
The South Wales Argus reported that the Exiles had in fact made a bid for the loan star, but after some consideration, County pulled their bid due to believing Twine would have his sights set on one of the Championship clubs that had been rumoured to be interested.
Asked after Town’s 3-2 win over Ipswich whether Sheridan knew anything about Twine’s immediate future, the Swindon manager said: “I don’t know if Newport had bid or not. As far as I’m aware, Scott is back here and he’s staying.
“He’s a Swindon Town fan, a Swindon Town player, and it’s my job to get the best out of him.
“He’s done well at Newport because he’s been playing regularly, and you could see he had benefitted from that against Ipswich.
“He should have done better with an earlier chance in the game before he scored, but his strike is a wonder strike.”
