HUNDREDS of homes in the Malmesbury area were hit by a power cut this evening.
The electricity outage blacked out households in the SN16 postcode area, including Malmesbury, Sherston and surrounding villages.
The power went off just after 7.30pm in the SN16 9GH, SN16 9HB and SN16 9HE areas following a mains fault.
A spokesman for Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks said: "We're sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.
"Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can."
The spokesman said the outage affected intermittant supply and power was restored at 7.43pm.
