SWINDON Town defender Anthony Cheshire claims he was not told he was being released and found out via friends on Twitter.
The County Ground club published its released and retained list on Friday, with Cheshire's name being one who would not be offered new terms to stay at SN1.
Shortly after the list was made available to the public, the first-year pro sent out a Tweet which read: “Finding out via Twitter” with two laughing emojis after.
Finding out via Twitter😂😂🤷🏽♂️

When approached by the Adver for a response to Cheshire’s allegation surrounding his future at the club, Town said: The club made attempts to contact every player regarding their future at Swindon via telephone.
“Anthony Cheshire was phoned a few times and it went to voicemail, so a message was left instead.”
In a later social media post, Cheshire went on to clarify he has no ill feeling towards the club and hopes they enjoy a more successful season next year.
Just to clarify there is no distaste towards Swindon, I wish them all the best, and I’m sure they’ll bounce straight back up next year🙌🏼
