SWINDON Town will host Championship side Swansea City in a pre-season friendly this summer, the club has announced.

Steve Cooper's men - who were beaten 2-0 by Brentford in the Championship play-off final last month - will visit the County Ground on Saturday, July 17 with a 3pm kick-off.

The high-profile fixture is currently Town's third scheduled pre-season friendly after John McGreal's men kick off the summer with the annual game against Swindon Supermarine on Tuesday, July 6. The tie was absent from both clubs' respective calendar last season due to Covid, but will return as the season opener this time around.

Swindon Town are then set to play Melksham Town at the InfiLED Arena on Friday, July 9. Supporters can already buy tickets for the Melksham tie through the Southern League outfit's website - though there are only a limited number of tickets available at present due to government restrictions on crowd size.

Supermarine say a decision on ticketing for their game against Town will be announced nearer the date, and a decision on whether to pay at the turnstile or if the game should be an all-ticket match is dependent on Covid guidelines after the government’s next lockdown-restriction update on June 21st.

Meanwhile, Swindon Town say they "will update supporters with ticket news" for their first home friendly "after the government's announcement regarding 2021/22 crowd allowances."

There continues to be no update regarding season tickets for either last year or the coming season.
