A pub which has been restored to its former Victorian-era glory has won a prestigious design award.
The Fitzroy Tavern in Fitzrovia, London, won the accolade after it was refurbished by Samuel Smiths, which installed new partitions and wrought iron signs.
The Campaign for Real Ale (Camra) announced winners in a number of categories, including the Sail Loft in Greenwich, London, for its tasteful display of modern design, and the Bowland Beer Hall in Clitheroe, Lancashire, which was converted from a former textile mill.
Sean Murphy of Camra said: “The sheer diversity of these winners, and their evident commercial success, shows just how vibrant a pub can be.”
