ALAN Low has warned his Royal Wootton Bassett players there will be no room for complacency as they prepare to lock horns with local rivals Swindon this weekend.

The Bassett head coach has told his squad that he is uninterested in the form of their neighbours and expects a tough afternoon nonetheless.

Swindon go into the game on the lookout for their first South West One East win of the season, while Bassett will hope they can make it back-to-back wins with a derby victory.

“Every week is a new week and it’s about moving onto the next job,” said Low. “The second you start looking over your shoulder and congratulating yourself, you slip up. I think that’s where we were at Salisbury (two weeks ago). We thought everything was going really well and that we didn’t have to try.

“That is an off-the-field piece that the players have been addressing themselves. They were asked for a reaction to that last weekend against Stratford and we got it.”

Low anticipates a competitive tie despite Swindon’s winless start to the campaign.

“When it comes to local derbies, all form goes out the window, we know that,” he added.

“We got bitten the other week when the lads probably looked a little bit too much into the formbook going to Salisbury and we ended up losing down there.

“We don’t want to make that mistake this weekend.

“It will be a tough local derby. Swindon have had some good days at their place and they have also come to us in the past and turned us over, so they will definitely be up for it.

“I’m sure it will be an absolute belter at the weekend and I know both groups will be really looking forward to it.”
