CORSHAM Town manager Justin Flowers says that as long as his team are picking up results, he will forgive the odd poor performance, writes JONATHAN LEIGHFIELD.

Town scraped past Toolstation League First Division bottom side Bristol Telephones 2-1 on Saturday thanks to goals from Daniel Harvey and Daniel King to make it two wins from three games.

But despite the win, Flowers was unhappy with the way his team achieved the result.

He said: “We’ve got mixed feelings after the result, because we didn’t really play well at all.

“We knew that they’d had a few bad results, but we knew it wouldn’t be an easy game at all.

“It was goalless at half-time and we were playing badly, to be honest, but we had a few words at half-time and then we played a lot better in the second half, which was pleasing.

“As long as we’re in the results, then we’re happy.”

Corsham lie in seventh place in the table and Flowers is more than satisfied with their current position, but knows if they are to maintain their positive start then they must improve when play restarts.

“We spoke before the game against Bristol about set pieces and why we thought we could improve in that area,” said Flowers.

“We’ve got a good defensive record but a lot of goals we’ve conceded have been from set-pieces.

“We believe we can be better when both attacking and defending set pieces.

“We witnessed an improvement on that against Bristol Telephones, which is really good.

“That’s an area we’re looking to improve on – something which we can work on in training to try and help make us one of the better teams in the division.

“We’re really happy with where we are. We want to maintain our league position now and we feel as though we’ve got a run of games where we can get some good results.”

Elsewhere, Calne Town were the big winners of the day as they triumphed 5-1 at Welton Rovers.

Matt Jenkins and Stuart Windsor both struck twice and there was one goal for Tom Boakes.

Alistair Bradley fired Devizes Town to a 1-0 win at home to Bishops Lydeard.

Finally, Chippenham Park went down 3-2 at home to Portishead Town.
