CHIPPENHAM’S Jane Sims has been nominated for the National Education Award for her outstanding contribution to gymnastics.

Sims – who is a coach at the Wiltshire School of Gymnastics – was nominated by British Gymnastics for her involvement in the Pre-School Panel.

The Pre-School Panel was set up more than 10 years ago as a body to advise and oversee pre-school gymnastics education across the country.

Thanks to her continued involvement and expertise in pre-school gymnastics classes, Sims was invited to sit on the panel in a volunteer capacity.

Of the nomination, Sims said: “Being nominated for this award means something very special to me.

“It is a recognised compliment for the work that myself, Sine, Arleen and Mary have continued to do over the past two decades.

“Our passion has always been to educate, motivate and support anyone who wishes to help a young child’s development through the wonderful sport of gymnastics.”

Jane Allen, chief executive of British Gymnastics, said: “I’m thrilled that Jane and the rest of the Pre-School Panel has been recognised for their hard work over the years.

“Without the contribution of members like Jane, our sport wouldn’t be what it is today.

“It’s important we recognise the extraordinary contribution of these amazing members.

“They are great heroes of gymnastics and we are very grateful for the contribution they make.”
