WARMINSTER took the bragging rights against county rivals Melksham in Dorset & Wilts One North at the weekend with a dominant 45-10 victory.

Melksham were stunned by three quick tries from the pacey Warminster backs in the opening quarter of the game as they failed to get themselves going.

The scoring continued to flow for the home team as injuries, including to captain David Dyke, compounded Melksham’s woes.

Points from the boot of Callum Hurn and a try from Luke Cador could not inspire a fightback to stem the tide as Warminster ran in seven tries in total to finish as convincing winners.

Dan McIntyre led the way with a hat-trick, there were two for Ross Williams and one each for Steve Matthews and Dom Davey.

Williams also added four conversions to take his own tally to 18 points, while Jimmy Rees added one conversion.

Melksham currently with third in the table heading into the final round of fixtures on Saturday, one place and two points above Warminster.
