ST AUGUSTINE’S student James Gordon has qualified at the weekend to represent Great Britain at the UIPM European Biathle and Triathle Championships being held in Madeira at the end of June.
This marks something of a comeback for Gordon, who – having won European and world championship gold medals in 2017 – was forced into two six-month breaks from training following consecutive injuries.
The selection follows his performance in the Pentathlon GB Biathle Race Series 1 at Sandford Parks Lido in Cheltenham.
His inclusion in the GB team comes shortly after being selected for the Catholic Schools Great Britain athletics team competing at the International Catholic School Games being held in Bucharest, Romania in July.
