MALMESBURY’S Louis Harvey continued his outstanding record of claiming a podium finish in every one of his Rissington Kart Club Championship races this weekend with a second and third place.

Harvey also set the fastest lap in both of the finals, despite missing all of Saturday’s practice to be an usher at his sister’s wedding and being involved in an accident during the three-lap warm up that badly bruised his hand and damaged the steering components in his kart.

After the steering components had been replaced and the chassis straightened out, Harvey was still down on power and could only qualify 21st in the field of 34.

Following some more adjustments to the chassis, the Malmesbury racer finished the first heat in 16th before deciding a change in engine would help his cause.

It did, as Harvey ended heat two in 6th place, and the young Malmesbury resident qualified for the finals in 11th on the grid.

Now into his stride, Harvey worked his way through the pack and finished second in final one, thanks to the fastest lap of the session, before an unlucky collision in the second final saw him cross the line in third, again with another fastest lap.
