SWINDON Robins team manager Alun Rossiter has released Polish heat leader Dawid Lampart and replaced him with Rasmus Jensen, who made his unexpected debut last night.

The Dane was due to be revealed as Rossiter’s second change of the season following the conclusion of last night’s home meeting against Poole Pirates – which ended in a 45-45 draw.

But after Pole Tobiasz Musielak crashed out of the Robins’ afternoon meeting at Wimborne Road, the 25-year-old was promptly called upon to make his Swindon debut.

While officially joining Swindon is still subject to BSPA approval, Jensen recorded a vital 14+1 from six rides – and has already cemented his name in fans’ good books.

Rossiter admitted he has tried to snap up Jensen for three seasons, but unfavourable averages have always forced him out of the Robins team.

He added: “I’ve been trying to sign him for the last two years.

“But his average hasn’t quite fit with the teams I have built in previous years.

“He text me a week ago and asked if I’m going to try and sign him this year.

“He gets on really well with Jason (Doyle) and Troy (Batchelor) – he is a real character and will be good to have in the pits.

“I’ve been wanting to sign him for a while, and while we’re in the position we are in I went for it.

“It’s unfortunate for Dawid Lampart, but we can’t take a chance on him.”

Lampart was due to ride in both meetings against Poole yesterday, but was ruled out of action after injuring himself in Poland on Sunday.

The Polish rider’s unwelcome ability to take two races to get into a winning groove didn’t sit well with Rossiter, who was keen to make a change before the new averages come into play on June 1.

“Dawid seems to take a couple of races to get going,” said Rossiter.

“Looking at the situation, we were expecting a bit more from him to be honest.

“It hasn’t gone that way, so we were looking at his position anyway.”
