SPACES are available for new players to join the junior programme at Royal Wootton Bassett RFC.

With preparations under way for the launch of the new season in September, Bassett U16 coach Matt Golden has put out a public invitation for newcomers to join any of the junior sides.

Golden said: “We always welcome new players to come along and try rugby with us, regardless of their previous experience.

“It could be guys who are new to the game and want to try something new, or someone who has played rugby previously and wants to give the game another go.

“It’s an opportunity for someone who has played the game at school and wants to play more regularly, or guys who have moved to the area and are seeking a local club to play for.”

Bassett run a full minis rugby section for boys and girls aged five to 12, plus junior sections for boys aged 13 to 16.

Golden added: “We have qualified coaches across all of our age groups, providing opportunities for anyone wanting to improve their individual rugby skills.

“As a club, we offer great training facilities and we’re all looking forward to our brand new gym opening later this year.

“It’s also a great way to make new friends, with social events going on year-round for both players and their parents.”

Anyone interested in joining one of the club’s junior teams can get more information at www.rwbrfc.club or by emailing matt.golden.007@googlemail.com.

This season will also see the launch of the Bassett Ravens – a new U13s girls team for players in school Years 7 and 8.

The Ravens are seeking new players to join them for training in September. Those interested can emailing girlsrugby@rwbrfc.club.
