DEVIZES RFC have launched their exciting new academy ahead of the 2019/20 season.
The academy is open to players in U16, U17 and U18 age groups and will offer a strong link between junior and senior rugby at the club, with a focus on high quality coaching and player development.
Current Bath Academy coach Johnny King will head up the academy coaching team, assisted by Chris Maundrell, Andy Cook, Chris Walker and Matt Bishop.
Devizes director of rugby Joe Alford said: "There is a recognised issue with a drop off in player numbers at age 16 to 18 across the country, and our academy is designed to offer an attractive option to both junior Devizes players and those elsewhere in the county to continue enjoying their rugby whilst training and playing to a high standard.
“The academy program will include strength and conditioning, nutrition coaching and sports psychology, so we are looking not only to develop better rugby players but better athletes and individuals."
Any interested players and parents are welcome to enquire about joining the academy for the new season. Training will take place on Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm-7.30pm at Green Lane.
Those interested in joining the academy can contact jking@southernsport.co.uk.
