“THERE will be tough times, but there will also be good times, so as long as we stick together, we’ll be fine."

Those are the words of Calne Town boss Ben Redford as he predicts a much tougher season in Toolstation League Division One to the one that preceded it for his team.

A sizeable number of important players have left the club for pastures new, while Redford admits they had only been able to attract a handful of new players to the club.

Trowbridge goal getter, Josh Hard – who netted 24 goals last season – arrives at Bremhill View, as does goalkeeper Sam Thompson and Avebury’s Jake Allen.

Redford said this coming season will be ‘a big learning curve’ for his side, but he still harbours hopes of a tough-half finish.

Redford said: “We’ve lost a lot of key players due to various reasons, so we’re going to bring a lot of the younger lads through this year.

“If we have a similar season to the last, then I think it will be a really good one for us considering we have lost a lot of quality.

“Being realistic, if we finish in the top half, that would be about right. But there’s no reason why, if we have a good start, that we can’t improve on last season.

“And that’s always the aim, to improve on the year before.

“It will be a big learning curve this year because we got off to a really good start last season

“We’ve got a lot of younger lads involved this year, so the more experienced ones need to help bed them in.”
