A SECOND away win in the space of a week is being targeted by Swindon Robins chief Alun Rossiter, who tonight travels south to tackle SGB Premiership table toppers Poole Pirates at Wimborne Road.

The Robins secured their biggest away victory in the league since July 2017 when dominating proceedings at Foxhall Stadium last Thursday against Ipswich Witches – beating Ritchie Hawkins’ side 37-53.

Robins’ 16-point win in Suffolk moved them three points clear of closest pursuers Wolverhampton Wolves, who sit fifth on 29 points having raced two more meetings than Rossiter’s septet.

Pirates have already lost heavily to the Robins on home shale this season in the Supporters’ Cup, and Rossiter sees no reason why his side’s 16-point win in Dorset four months ago can’t be repeated.

He said: “We’ll be aiming to pick up three points – maybe even four.

“Poole are good on their home track, but we shouldn’t be frightened of them – we’re just as good.

“We have a great top five, and Ellis Perks is getting stuck in. Ellis scored four paid five on Thursday, and that’s all we need from him.

“Guest Kevin (Doolan) started well too before tailing off a bit.

“We can’t seem to replace that last rider – someone that can come up and pick up a handy haul of points.”

The Robins will track six of their seven riders in Dorset this evening.

Claus Vissing remains suspended following an incident at Eastbourne just over a fortnight ago – and the Dane will return to the Robins roster when his ban ends at the end of this week.

The Robins were yet to confirm Vissing’s guest replacement for this evening’s meeting at the time of going to print, but Rossiter did confirm they will stick behind the 33-year-old.

He added: “We’re not changing Claus (Vissing). He came up to Belle Vue last Monday and is good enough.

“We’ll stick by him. He’s using this time to get some engines set up.

“Once he sorts that, he can do a job for us.”
