A DOUBLE-PODIUM finish at Cadwell Park helped reignite Wiltshire rider Tommy Bridewell’s British Superbikes Championship challenge at the weekend.
Etchilhampton racer Bridewell recorded his most disappointing round of the season at Thruxton last time out a fortnight ago but a third then second-place finish at Cadwell saw him return to form.
The top three was the same in each race as Danny Buchan finished ahead of Josh Brookes and Bridewell in the opener.
Brookes was victorious in the second, with Bridewell also leapfrogging Buchan to move up a step on the podium on his Oxford Racing Ducati.
Bridewell’s haul of 36 points across the weekend sees him rise onto 243 for the season and remain third in the championship standings.
Brookes is the new leader on 271, with previous pace-setter and Be Wiser Ducati team-mate Scott Redding dropping to second on 259.
Speaking after his second-place finish in race two, Bridewell said: “I didn’t feel the greatest all weekend but, as always, the team delivered come the races.
“I am frustrated not to win race two, but I am happy with the way the team is, the way they got the bike ready and how I rode.
“I can’t get much closer to a win. It is certainly not for the want of trying from the team and myself.
“It will come. I tried to force it in the second race – I am trying everything but other guys have just got that little bit more.
“We will get it sorted.”
The championship resumes at Oulton Park on weekend of September 6-9.
